will.. i found out about will pokemon back in around 2018 while scrolling through bulbapedia and i found him. the actual greatest character design in pokemon. i immediately drew him and it looked like shit because it was me in 2018 but by god i tried. he early days of my fixation were rough as there was absolutely no will content dating past circa 2010 and he had 5 lines of mediocre dialogue. that was all i had to go off of. he was the introduction to my interest in johto because i was literally nonexistent when GSC released and (rightfully) not trusted with a DS when HGSS released.

i didnt think very much about him for a while but then it happened. pokemon masters. there he was. in 3D. with an actual personality. my autism kicked into high gear and i never once looked back. i got him to 5 stars. I got him 20/20 before EX was even a thing. when he showed up in that one chapter at the very end with karen i actually physically screamed. i remember it like it was yesterday. i had given up all hope of them ever putting will in the main story. i mean, why would they? he was an obscure character nobody but me and 2 artists in japan liked. but the madmen did it. they put him in. with karen. and grimsley. some of my other favorite characters. i had never known such euphoria in my life until that very moment.

oh boy oh boy time for me to infodump about the will headcanons i have accrued over the past 4-5 years.

NUMERO UNO. will is blind. NUMERO DOS he has one eye. yes i know you see both eyes in his little overworld sprite from hgss but have you considered: i do not care.

i think will is from paldea because. i wanted to give him a meowscarada. thats. thats the only reason.

ok time for my absolutely positively fucking batshit insane headcanons of wills relationships with various characters. prepare for utter nonsense everyone!

KAREN: i think will and karen are in love. tbh. i think will has a hard time opening up to people but karen was so genuine that he ended up unintentionally opening up to her. they became really close friends but will still wasnt ready for a romantic relationship for a long time... uuuu. slams head into keyboard.

GRIMSLEY: FUCK. pokemon masters. why did you make them interact YOU CURSED ME FOREVER!! i have an absolutely deranged hc about how they meet ok so basically i think will is from paldea and grimsley went to paldea to figure out how to evolve his bisharp. he never did btw. lol. but in the process he meets will! they become training buddies which turns into buddies buddies which turns into something romantic and. ough. grimsley eventually has to leave though :( and will embarks on a journey to become stronger and ends up in johto eventually.

MORTY: i constantly alternate between will and morty having a romantic relationship or a platonic one. also i think will is polyamorous if that wasnt obvious. i think it works really well both ways! theyre both weirdos with some sort of powers in johto. theyre destined to be together in some way. yes they never interact in canon (or masters as far as i can remember) but thats okay. in GSSM (my timeskip project) they end up becoming bestest friends after eusine kinda ditches morty to go look for suicune in other regions. then they fall in love and AAAAHHHH (BASHES HEAD INTO WALL)

LANCE: i think will and lance have a kind of mentor relationship going on but theyre also really close friends. will goes to him for advice when he needs it and lance pretends he has any idea what hes doing (HE DOESNT)

LORELEI: i think will and lorelei are cousins. thats it thats the post i dont care about lorelei enough to flesh it out beyond that

LUCIAN: i think will and lucian are brothers because thatd be fucking hilarious. my least favorite character and my favorite character being related. their beef must be absolutely cosmic

SONIA: remember how will and sonia interact for like 5 seconds in masters. i think theyd be cute friends. they were just fucking around doing nothing for like hours while everyone else was fighting for their fucking life against team rocket it was great.
